It is National Vegetarian Week and we have a series of giveaways to help you get more veggies into your diet on a regular basis.
First up this amazing prize courtesy of Froothie, a company we have been working with over the last year. You may have seen our use of the Optimum 9400 High Speed Blender. Something we find utterly indispensible in our kitchen. From smoothies to sauces and soups to silkiest and smoothest hot chocolate. And in a feature that makes it better than a vitamix, you can make flours and grind dry ingredients without the need for two separate jugs. One set up and a huge number of uses. We love it and could not imagine life without it.
Froothie also manufacture a slow juicer. If you have not come across slow pressed juices (a big food trend this year, so where have you been??!), then here is a bit of a primer.
Whereas conventional juicers extract juice by centrifugal force, slow juicers use cold compression. This is good for several reasons –
- More juice – the juice yield is higher (up to 35% more juice is extracted from the fruit and vegetables passing through it)
- More nutritious juice – A compression extraction does not heat up the machine, so is thought to better preserve nutrient content. Protecting the integrity of all those sensitive goodies, from plant enzymes to vitamins.
- Better tasting juice – no froth, as the juice is squeezed and not spun out. In addition, more fibre passes into the juice so it is more filling creates less of a sugar spike than you would get drinking juice from centrifugal machines.
One of the things that has always frustrated us is the preparation and cleaning up of juicers. With the Optimum 600 though the preparation could not be simpler – the wide mouth of the juicer means you can pop in whole fruit and on the whole, no need to peel or slice.
Take a look at the price of cold pressed juices and you will understand that if you have the bench space in your kitchen, this juicer is worth a try, so why not enter to win one. Please note this is for UK residents only.
Optimum 600 Whole Fruit Slow Juicer
The Optimum 600 whole fruit slow juicer means no more chopping, no more clogging, just faster, better more nutritious fresh juice. - Large auger which perfectly crushes your fruits and vegetables for maximum output and nutrient retention.
- Large chute and internal knife will eliminate chopping and clogging, making cleaning a breeze.
